Prior to becoming a freelance writer and editor, Julie was employed by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) as the Manager, Practice Management and Professional Support, where she advised physicians on how to manage their medical practices.

Julie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rockhurst College/Research College of Nursing and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She is a member of the American Medical Writers Association and the Editorial Freelancers Association.

In October of 2007, Julie’s mother was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells, for which there is no cure.
